Overview
The Accessibility Facilitator contributes significantly to the Disability and Accessibility Resource Center (DARC) team at Ferris State University College of Business, overseeing operations related to accommodated testing, assistive technologies, and accessibility services. This role includes managing the day-to-day accommodated testing processes, coordinating with faculty, and supporting students with disabilities to ensure equity in testing environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Organize, schedule, proctor, and manage the return of exams within DARC facilities.
- Develop, refine, and guide staff in testing-related policies and protocols.
- Work collaboratively with faculty regarding accommodated testing requirements and procedures.
- Handle document remediation and exam formatting to suit assistive and adaptive technologies.
- Manage vendor contracts and relationships associated with assistive technology products and services.
- Provide education and training to faculty, staff, and students about available assistive technologies.
- Serve as the primary contact for technology issues related to case management, note-taking, and screen reading software.
- Represent DARC at campus events, committees, and task forces as assigned.
- Partner with university stakeholders to uphold and enhance campus-wide accessibility.
- Support faculty and staff development initiatives regarding disability awareness and assistive tools.
- Assist in data collection, analysis, and evaluation of DARC programs to ensure continual improvement.
- Contribute to policy formation ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity and belonging among students, faculty, and staff.
- Support university efforts for student enrollment and retention related to disability services.
- Perform other duties assigned within the scope of the position.
Qualifications and Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of four years relevant experience is required.
- Experience in assistive technologies, disability services, student affairs, counseling, or social work preferred.
- Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and higher education disability trends.
- Ability to deliver, assess, and continuously improve disability-related services.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building respectful relationships across diverse groups.
- Proven capability to work effectively within team settings.
- Physical demands include office work with occasional lifting, bending, reaching, and standing.
Additional Information
The position salary range is $42,000 to $45,600 annually, commensurate with experience and education. It includes a comprehensive benefits package consisting of health care, vacation, and more. Employment is full-time, continuing, and exempt under FLSA rules. The role begins approximately September 2026 but is subject to change. Candidates must have authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship at the time of hire.
