Position Overview
Netrix Global is actively seeking a seasoned VMware Infrastructure and Storage Engineer to join their team in Pune. This role is primarily focused on deploying and maintaining private cloud infrastructure across multiple data centers, emphasizing VMware environments but also offering exposure to other virtualization and modern infrastructure technologies. The ideal candidate is pragmatic, solution-oriented, self-directed, and has a deep understanding of how compute, storage, networking, and backup integrate within multi-tenant production settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage virtualized infrastructure platforms.
- Maintain and optimize compute, storage, and backup systems for performance and availability.
- Diagnose and resolve complex challenges related to virtualization, storage, and networking.
- Collaborate with teams on cloud migrations, system upgrades, and client onboarding processes.
- Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of cloud services.
- Build and sustain VMware-based systems including vSphere, ESXi, and related ecosystems.
- Administer converged and hyperconverged platforms such as Cisco UCS, Dell VxRail, and Cisco HyperFlex.
- Design and manage storage solutions covering Fibre Channel, iSCSI, zoning, fabric architecture, block/file/object storage, and data reduction technologies.
- Implement snapshot, replication, and recovery strategies for enterprise storage.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning across compute and storage layers.
- Support backup solutions and disaster recovery initiatives ensuring business continuity.
- Contribute to infrastructure migrations, including potential platform shifts.
- Create and update configuration documentation, processes, and operational runbooks.
- Engage in a rotating on-call schedule approximately every three to four weeks, responding promptly to production incidents.
- Be flexible with working hours to accommodate maintenance, deployment, or incident response beyond standard office hours.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience supporting VMware technologies in enterprise production environments, specifically with vSphere/ESXi, VMware Cloud Director, and VMware Aria Operations.
- Proven experience managing VMware platform upgrades, including migration from vSphere 7.x to 8.x, and overseeing infrastructure lifecycle tasks.
- Expertise in supporting and troubleshooting multi-tenant or private cloud enterprise environments.
- Strong comprehension of enterprise storage architecture and Fibre Channel SAN, encompassing zoning, multipathing, replication, snapshots, capacity planning, and performance troubleshooting.
- Experience with enterprise storage platforms like Dell Unity, PowerStore, PowerVault ME, EMC PowerScale, or HPE Nimble Storage and Alletra.
- Familiarity with VMware automation tools such as VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator.
- Knowledge of enterprise backup solutions, preferably Veeam Backup & Replication and Dell EMC IDPA/Avamar.
- Experience with disaster recovery technologies, including VMware Cloud Director Availability and/or Zerto.
- Competent in Windows Server and Active Directory management, including DNS, authentication, and Group Policy troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues spanning virtualization, storage, backup, networking, and OS layers independently.
- Strong analytical abilities with adaptability to emerging technologies and infrastructure changes.
Preferred Skills and Additional Experience
- Exposure to VMware NSX-T components administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience producing technical documentation, infrastructure diagrams, and diagramming with Visio.
- Basic command-line knowledge and troubleshooting experience with Linux operating systems.
- Involvement in SOC 2 Type II compliance initiatives, audits, or relevant evidence gathering.
- Experience managing Dell EMC Integrated Data Protection Appliance (IDPA).
- Project leadership experience coordinating infrastructure technical workstreams and deliverables.
- Understanding of alternative virtualization platforms and hypervisors.
Additional Details
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM CST (US Business Hours) with an on-call rotation.
- Flexibility required for occasional after-hours or weekend work to support system maintenance, deployments, or incident response.
- Immediate availability to join within 15 to 20 days preferred.
