About the Company and Role

This stable organization, aiming to increase turnover from £3-4 million to £5 million within three years, offers a modern, collaborative workshop environment with roughly 20 dedicated colleagues, many of whom have long tenures. The company values investing in cutting-edge equipment, including a £250,000 water jet cutter, a £125,000 press brake, and an upcoming innovation centre.
Work Environment and Schedule
Enjoy a consistent daytime schedule from Monday to Thursday (8:00 to 16:30) and Friday (8:00 to 15:30), enabling you to preserve your evenings and weekends without overtime or shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate precision-turned and milled components such as shafts, pins, bosses, keyways, and circlip grooves, spending about 80% of your time machining parts in the workshop.
- Operate manual machines including a Harrison lathe and XYZ milling machine, as well as the Haas CNC turning centre, transitioning fluidly between manual and CNC machining.
- Perform CAM programming, primarily using Fusion 360 or comparable software, to facilitate machining tasks.
- Support assembly efforts by fitting machined parts, adding wheels, and assembling mechanical components to prepare machinery for delivery.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Proven experience as a toolmaker or machinist capable of producing components like shafts, pins, bosses, and intricate features such as keyways and circlip grooves.
- Competency with manual lathe and milling machines, along with CNC turning centres.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of CAM programming, preferably with Fusion 360, though knowledge of other CAM software is acceptable.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is £35,000 to £38,000 per year, complemented by profit-sharing, medical insurance, pension scheme, 25 days of paid holiday, plus bank holidays.
