Technical Consultant

About the role

Appian is looking for a Technical Consultant to join its Customer Success team in Frankfurt. In this position, you will work with customers after the sale to design and deliver software solutions on the Appian platform. The work supports digital transformation efforts and helps clients create business impact quickly while building long-term self-sufficiency.

What you will do

You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, from understanding the client’s business processes and technical needs to defining, designing, developing, and deploying custom solutions for commercial customers. The work takes place in an agile environment and includes launching relational data models in production, creating APIs to connect with multiple systems, and collaborating closely with client technical teams and business users. A key part of the role is also to help customers adopt the platform and become independent in building process applications.

What success in this role looks like

• Working with clients to clarify business processes and capture both functional and technical requirements.
• Communicating clearly, staying curious, and approaching problems with a strong interest in technology and continuous learning.
• Contributing effectively in cross-functional teams and using agile practices such as pair programming, stand-ups, planning meetings, and sprints.
• Applying software testing methods, including test-driven development and automated test suites in a continuous integration setup.
• Using integration technologies such as REST, SOAP, JDBC, and web services, with preferred familiarity in AWS, AI, analytics, machine learning, Google Cloud, application integration, database tools, developer tools, management and governance tools, and elastic container technologies.

Basic qualifications

• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in software development or technical consulting.
• Fluency in both English and German.
• Experience with object-oriented programming, relational databases, database design and data modeling, and SQL including queries, joins, and views.
• A B.S. or B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer engagement.

Compensation and benefits

The role includes a base salary range of €50,000 to €100,000 per year. Appian notes that final compensation depends on factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market/business conditions. A discretionary bonus may also be awarded based on individual and company performance.
