Position Overview

The Specialist in the IT Cluster is responsible for installing, configuring, managing, maintaining, testing, evaluating, and repairing computer networks and workstations. This role supports server systems along with related hardware/software, manages user accounts, and maintains phone and computer rooms. The incumbent instructs users on proper system usage and security, troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software, LAN, WAN, and internet-related issues, and provides guidance on network communications. Major problems are escalated to vendors or technicians. Process improvements are analyzed and implemented to enhance technological functions.

Key Duties

  • Inspect, test, and diagnose computer systems and equipment.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee IT equipment installations, moves, changes, and system enhancements.
  • Implement and manage network security measures.
  • Provide end-user support for all applications and manage overall disk space on the network.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of technology devices and ensure backup tapes are securely stored.
  • Adhere to company policies including reporting any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions, while maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Address guest service requirements and assist colleagues as needed.
  • Demonstrate professional communication skills internally and externally.
  • Act as a role model and first point of contact for company policies related to fair treatment and open-door processes.
  • Promote positive working relationships and teamwork with colleagues to meet shared objectives.
