Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to serve as a QA Architect, responsible for crafting and overseeing the quality and testing architecture that supports the development squads. This role involves designing automation frameworks, quality gates, test data strategies, and overseeing test infrastructure to ensure robust system quality. The ideal candidate leverages AI extensively in their testing approaches and shapes the broader QA discipline's adoption of AI tools. You will act as the technical authority for testing, providing leadership and mentorship, while maintaining hands-on involvement with QA architecture and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee test and quality architecture including automation frameworks, quality gates, and test data across squads.
• Define and uphold standards for functional and non-functional testing, including performance, load, resilience, reliability, and security tests.
• Evaluate and provide feedback on test strategies and automation implementations by QA engineers.
• Guide the adoption of AI in QA processes, including coding assistants and AI-powered testing tools.
• Collaborate with architects and engineering leaders to tackle complex quality challenges and modernize testing infrastructure.
• Analyze significant production quality incidents and translate findings into improved standards and tooling.

Required Qualifications

• 8 to 10+ years of experience in QA and test engineering, including senior technical leadership on complex systems.
• Advanced expertise in test automation with languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or C#, including framework and test architecture design.
• Comprehensive knowledge of both functional and various non-functional testing disciplines, including hands-on experience with k6, JMeter, or similar tools for load and resilience testing.
• Proven history designing test strategies and architectures used enterprise-wide.
• Experience with API testing tools (Postman, Bruno) and UI automation frameworks like Playwright or Cypress, balancing manual and automated testing approaches.
• Strong defect management practices involving defect reproduction, prioritization, service-level objectives (SLOs), and quality metrics.
• Ownership of CI/CD and release gating processes, utilizing platforms like GitHub Actions, plus development or testing experience on AWS.
• Frequent user of agentic AI coding assistants such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code, with strategic insights on integrating AI in QA workflows.
• Experience mentoring QA engineers and reviewing test work for technical rigor and quality.
• Background in payments, foreign exchange, or regulated industry sectors.
• Excellent communication skills necessary to align engineering teams and leadership on quality goals.

Desirable Skills

• Experience implementing new testing frameworks or quality tools adopted widely across organizations.
• Familiarity with contract testing platforms like Pact for partner integrations.
• Testing experience with Windows desktop applications.
• Knowledge in mobile app automation testing.
• Mentoring and capacity-building experience within QA teams.
