Role Overview
This is a remarkable chance to become part of the Municipal Collections Finance team as a Senior Financial Analyst, where you'll deliver precise financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analytics to empower sound business decisions. You will advance your technical and commercial finance expertise through active collaboration with operational teams, upholding strong financial controls, and driving continuous improvements that boost financial and operational efficiency. You will also play a vital part supporting the regional leadership team by participating in their meetings.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Regional General Managers (RGMs) to develop budgets and forecasts for the fiscal year aligned with period-end and mid-month deadlines.
- Engage as a core member of RGMs' leadership team by attending team meetings and conducting regular one-on-one sessions with RGMs.
- Manage postings of all journals beyond gross margin, proactively correcting underlying data to minimize adjustment needs.
- Facilitate discussions with central teams to verify journal submissions' accuracy and investigate regional variances.
- Prepare monthly management accounts including detailed variance analyses and reconciliation reports.
- Conduct monthly business reviews focused on variance rationales, utilizing KPI data to challenge operations and agree on subsequent actions, while monitoring progress in future meetings.
- Lead and present the budget preparation process for assigned areas to RGMs and senior finance personnel.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring postings comply with accounting standards.
- Take accountability for addressing all external and internal audit inquiries related to the region.
- Use site visits proactively to identify potential efficiency enhancements.
- Spearhead efficiency programs tailored for each region to optimize operational costs.
- Oversee monthly reporting of CAPEX and cash flow, leveraging data insights to enhance business efficiencies.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess professional accounting qualifications such as CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
- Demonstrate experience partnering with operational and commercial colleagues across various sites.
- Management accounting background in service, logistics, or waste sectors is advantageous.
- Proficient computer skills, with advanced expertise in Excel essential.
- Exhibit flexibility and capacity to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Clear communicator who is confident and assertive in engagements.
- Strong analytical thinker able to swiftly evaluate problems and recommend or apply solutions.
- Resilient and robust, capable of managing pressure positively.
