Overview
We are seeking a Senior Catastrophe Research Analyst who excels in interpreting complex data, revealing trends, and transforming scientific research into actionable insights. This role is essential for aiding clients in understanding their exposure to natural hazards and catastrophe risks across New Zealand, Australia, and the broader APAC region, combining expertise in natural hazard science, geospatial data analysis, and risk evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle extensive and complex spatial datasets related to natural hazard risks.
- Utilize geospatial analysis tools and interrogate data using SQL and programming languages.
- Present analytical findings clearly to a diverse range of stakeholders within the region.
- Collaborate with global teams across Analytics, Risk Advisory, and Broking functions to enhance client outcomes.
Candidate Profile
- Ability to effectively communicate scientific and data-driven insights to non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical skills with a passion for solving complex problems.
- Proven project management and client interaction experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or relevant experience in Natural Hazards, Physical Geography, Earth Science, GIS, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in geospatial analysis.
- Proficient in advanced SQL; familiarity with Python or similar programming languages is a plus.
- Experience with catastrophe modelling or within the insurance/reinsurance sectors is advantageous.
