Role Overview

As a Senior AI Data Engineer, you will be at the forefront of building a foundational data platform that drives reporting, operational decisions, automation, and AI initiatives across Sangoma. You will join a select, high-performing team tasked with designing and implementing a modern, AWS-based lakehouse architecture from scratch — a unique greenfield project where you set the architectural direction. Collaborating closely with Engineering, Product, Finance, and Business Operations, you'll develop standards, engineering practices, and a platform that elevates data to a trusted enterprise asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a scalable, modern enterprise data platform that supports analytics, business intelligence, and artificial intelligence needs.
• Create well-governed and trustworthy data products that underpin enterprise reporting and decision mechanisms.
• Construct automated, dependable data pipelines integrating core business systems into a cohesive scalable architecture.
• Define engineering protocols relating to data quality, governance, security, system observability, and platform reliability.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to address complex data challenges and enable innovative organizational capabilities.
• Contribute to shaping the long-term vision and technical architecture of Sangoma's enterprise data platform.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

The ideal candidate has proven experience in building cloud-native data platforms and transforming complex datasets into robust, scalable business solutions. Comfortable bridging engineering, product, and business teams, you understand how to craft impactful data products that enhance reporting, analytics, and decision-support.

• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, especially on AWS or similar providers.
• Proficiency in creating data pipelines using Python and SQL.
• Expertise in data modeling, transformations, and orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with modern data warehouses such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or equivalents.
• Experience using Git for source control along with CI/CD development methodologies.
• Strong focus on designing secure, reliable, and well-governed data architectures.

Additional advantageous skills:

• Working knowledge of Snowflake or other cloud data platforms.
• Experience with AI and machine learning data workflow pipelines.
• Exposure to ERP and CRM systems like NetSuite and Salesforce.
• Knowledge of search technologies and vector databases.
