Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Senior Accountant to manage daily financial operations, ensuring precise bookkeeping, timely month-end closings, and reliable financial data. This hybrid position requires presence at our Rancho Santa Margarita, CA office at least three days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate accounting records and complete monthly closes promptly.
  • Handle full-cycle accounts payable including invoice processing, vendor payments, and account reconciliations.
  • Reconcile sales revenue against point-of-sale data.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy through journal entries, adjustments, and reconciliations.
  • Take ownership of the month-end closing process, including accrual preparation and account reconciliations.
  • Manage monthly credit card transactions and collaborate with department heads for reconciliation.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies with appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure inventory balances and cost of goods sold (COGS) are accurate and audit-ready, managing inventory valuations, SKU/location reconciliations, and bill of materials reviews.
  • Reconcile inventory data between ERP system, third-party logistics reports, and the general ledger.
  • Support periodic physical inventory counts and resolve any discrepancies found.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and related schedules.
  • Support maintenance of key performance indicators dashboards and perform variance analyses.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to aid internal reporting and business decisions.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 6 years of progressive accounting experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end closing procedures.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks Online for accounting operations.
  • Knowledgeable in inventory accounting and COGS management within product-focused or direct-to-consumer environments.
  • Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including reconciliations, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and consistent follow-through capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks within a fast-paced workplace.
  • Preferred experience includes working within DTC, CPG, or e-commerce sectors.
  • Familiarity with inventory management platforms such as Luminous or NetSuite is a plus.
  • Experience reconciling third-party logistics inventory data with internal records.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred.

Success Indicators

  • Month-end closing completed accurately and on schedule without recurring discrepancies.
  • Inventory balances consistently reconcile with general ledger and inventory management systems.
  • COGS tracked precisely with proactive identification and explanation of variances.
  • Financial documentation is organized, audit-ready, and readily accessible.
  • Finance leadership trusts the integrity and reliability of the financial data provided.

Working Conditions & Benefits

The role operates under a hybrid model requiring three onsite days per week, working Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Compensation ranges from $85,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and role fit.
