Role Summary
The position is for a Technologist within the Risk Technology team, responsible for creating and enhancing advanced tools to support the Risk department. The role includes developing and automating risk simulations, portfolio analysis, and other critical components of the Risk system. This job works directly with Risk Managers and the Chief Risk Officer and interacts with nearly all areas of the company due to the nature of risk functions.
Responsibilities
- Develop new and improve existing technology solutions for the Risk team.
- Contribute strategically to the development of the Risk Technology platform.
- Integrate AI capabilities to enhance tooling.
- Create custom calculations tailored for Risk Managers.
- Maintain and support analytical tools.
- Assist with regulatory and investor reporting requirements.
Technology Stack and Learning Opportunities
The technology environment includes Java (commercial experience with recent versions preferred), TypeScript/React, Python, Kafka, SQL Server, Clickhouse, and AWS. The team values independence and innovation, encouraging suggestions for new technologies or methods. Although deep familiarity with all traded financial products is not mandatory, curiosity and eagerness to learn about various financial instruments and risk factors are essential.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven hands-on experience in commercial Java development.
- Working knowledge of Python is advantageous.
- Experience with SQL and relational database management systems.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- A strong intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Science or a related field.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with market risk concepts is a plus but not mandatory.
- Practical use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or Claude in a work setting.
Location and Work Environment
This position requires full-time onsite presence at LMR's Dublin office, located in Ballsbridge. The office features a recently renovated, modern workspace on the top floor with a scenic terrace overlooking the sea, mountains, and the Aviva Stadium. Key internal stakeholders, including the Fixed Income Chief Investment Officer and the Chief Risk Officer, are based here.
