Position Overview
The organization is seeking a Research Fellow to bolster its expanding social media and video teams. This role is critical for ensuring a continuous stream of engaging and informative social media content that educates and motivates the audience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in original research and fact-checking, with a strong commitment to reporting impactful news for working people through social video formats.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and reporting for creating engaging vertical videos and various social media materials.
- Track legislative hearings, press events, public meetings, earnings calls, and submit records requests, as well as maintain organized tracking spreadsheets.
- Spot emerging news stories and trending topics from both conventional media outlets and social platforms.
- Execute thorough fact-checking of social media posts including video scripts and Instagram carousel content.
- Manage several projects concurrently while adhering to deadlines.
- Uphold rigorous quality standards in a fast-moving, adaptable work setting.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Professional background in research and fact verification, preferably within a newsroom environment.
- Strong passion for and extensive knowledge of U.S. politics and economic justice issues.
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and oral.
- Proficiency with social media platforms, especially Twitter/X, along with keen insight into current trends.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
- Highly organized, meticulous, and disciplined in following guidelines and meeting strict deadlines.
- Full-time availability and capacity to thrive in a remote work environment.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this full-time remote position is fixed at $25.
