Role Overview
As a Renewable Energy Engineer at a Dubai-based service provider, you will serve as the pivotal connection between sustainability objectives and the execution of energy infrastructure projects. Your focus will be on the design, optimization, and implementation of renewable energy systems such as solar photovoltaic (PV), wind energy, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and microgrid solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize system layouts and electrical designs for renewable projects including solar, wind, and energy storage, encompassing conceptual layouts, yield assessments, and interconnection evaluations.
- Conduct detailed energy performance modeling and data analyses to enhance operational efficiency, financial returns, and asset valuation.
- Perform thorough technical due diligence by reviewing engineering designs, procurement and construction contracts, equipment specifications, and warranty terms to ensure compliance and quality.
- Carry out early-stage site and feasibility assessments considering environmental constraints and optimal project layout.
- Oversee the monitoring and iterative improvement of existing assets using machine learning and predictive forecasting to address system issues and maximize resource availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management, civil engineering, and environmental science to guarantee smooth project execution from concept through construction.
Required Skills and Expertise
- A minimum of three years’ experience in renewable energy engineering with emphasis on system design, modeling, or asset management.
- Proficiency with industry-standard energy modeling and design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, HOMER, Helioscope, and EnergyPlus.
- Advanced data analysis and visualization skills using programming languages like Python, R, or MATLAB.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical power systems, grid interface, and adherence to relevant codes and environmental regulations.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems, or a related discipline (Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with construction supervision, EPC tender documents, and commissioning processes.
- Understanding of environmental assessments such as life cycle assessment (LCA), ESG criteria, and carbon pricing methodologies.
- Familiarity with applying machine learning techniques to energy system analytics.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer or comparable certification.
