Quantity Surveyor - Mechanical Engineering

About the Company

Our client is a reputable provider of mechanical services catering to various sectors within the construction industry, currently seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their team in Galway.

Responsibilities

• Compile tender documentation accurately and comprehensively.
• Prepare and evaluate cost estimates for tender submissions.
• Advise on contractual claims and related issues.
• Participate in site visits and attend meetings with clients as necessary.
• Manage cost control processes for mechanical installation projects.
• Engage with clients throughout the project lifecycle, from initial inquiry to final account settlement.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers on contract variation matters.
• Negotiate final accounts effectively.
• Communicate and coordinate with clients, engineers, and contractors.
• Oversee cost management duties during all stages of projects.
• Manage relationships with both clients and direct staff members.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant mechanical trades or qualification in Quantity Surveying/construction economics with mechanical knowledge.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a contractor in Ireland.
• Technical understanding of Mechanical/Building Services or general construction industry knowledge in Ireland.
• Proven expertise and track record in quantity surveying roles.
• Ability to operate independently and manage tasks effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills and assertiveness required for negotiating costs and contractual matters.
