QC Inspector - Mechanical

Position Overview

The QC Inspector - Mechanical is tasked with performing quality inspections, surveillance, and witnessing of inspection, testing, erection, and installation activities at construction sites, fabrication facilities, and vendor locations. These activities must align with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), project specifications, and internationally accepted standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections and witness tests conducted by EPC contractors and manufacturers per approved ITPs and project requirements.
• Examine and validate inspection and testing documentation for conformity with applicable standards and project specifications.
• Oversee contractor and manufacturer QC personnel to identify and report quality-related issues.
• Represent the client during QA/QC meetings at sites and yards with contractors.
• Perform incoming material inspections ensuring compliance with project documents.
• Witness and inspect fabrication, manufacturing, testing, and material verification focusing on equipment criticality and approved inspection procedures.
• Inspect welding activities, including reviewing field weld procedures, witnessing welder and operator qualification tests, monitoring fit-up and welding processes, checking welding consumables and electrode storage, and verifying electrode baking records.
• Inspect painting and coating processes, such as verifying coating materials, assessing surface preparation and application methods, and calibrating inspection and testing equipment.
• Review and provide feedback on field NDE procedures, witness NDT activities, and endorse NDT results including radiographic film interpretation and related documents to ensure compliance.
• Inspect receipt and installation of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and their internals.
• Supervise piping fabrication, installation, testing, and construction of pipelines and tanks.
• Oversee receipt and installation of rotating and reciprocating equipment such as pumps, compressors, and turbines.
• Participate in site completion inspections and assist in punch list clearance activities.
• Report all deviations, discrepancies, and quality concerns promptly to the Quality Team.
• Identify, document, and follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective/preventive actions until resolution.
• Review and verify quality records including Material Test Certificates (MTCs), visual and dimensional inspection reports, NDT reports, performance test records, hydrostatic test documents, inspection release notes, and other project quality documentation.
• Ensure all quality inspections, tests, and documentation comply with project requirements, statutory regulations, and quality standards.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a Technical Diploma or Engineering Degree (two to three years) in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Welding or related fields.
• At least five years of QA/QC inspection experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
• Hold relevant certifications such as CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector, BGAS Grade III Coating Inspector, NACE Coating Inspector Level I or higher, ASNT Level II NDT Certification or ISO 9712, or other related mechanical certifications.
• Experience working in construction sites, fabrication yards, manufacturing facilities, and conducting vendor inspections.
• Prior involvement in ADNOC projects is advantageous.
• Possession of a valid UAE driving license is preferred.
• Strong familiarity with international codes, standards, inspection procedures, and QA/QC documentation requirements.
• Effective communication, reporting, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Capability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality records.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently within the UAE to project sites, fabricators, and vendors.
