Python Developer Internship or Junior Analyst - Hedge Fund

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly diligent and motivated Python Developer Intern to join our team at Perspective Invest Ltd. This role offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge financial software development and gain hands-on experience in the finance technology domain.

Responsibilities

• Construct and uphold reliable data collection pipelines, including web scraping from public sources, ensuring data quality and system monitoring.
• Develop and maintain data visualization dashboards and web applications hosted on AWS infrastructure.
• Implement HTML parsing and extract structured and unstructured data to support research and analytics.
• Analyze complex financial datasets to improve algorithms and generate insightful analytical reports.
• Create, test, and sustain robust, scalable, and maintainable Python code following best practices.
• Incorporate external data sources and APIs to expand analytics capabilities.
• Produce comprehensive documentation for code and system features for internal and external stakeholders.
• Keep abreast of latest trends in Python development and financial technologies to propose innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new software modules and features.
• Provide timely troubleshooting and resolution of software-related issues.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Computer Science or other STEM disciplines.
• Strong Python programming skills, particularly in developing data processing and collection pipelines.
• Knowledge of clean coding standards such as PEP 8 and sound production practices.
• Some experience with web automation tools like Selenium or Playwright.
• Basic understanding of financial market concepts.
• Familiarity with databases like SQL and visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Streamlit, or Plotly.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Previous coursework or experience in financial software development.
• Experience with GitHub and Bloomberg platforms.
• Knowledge of API integration for data acquisition.
• Basic familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and related tools.
• Exposure to AWS EC2 services.
• Additional programming languages or frameworks such as R, Java, or C++ is advantageous.
