Position Overview

Cambrian seeks a Public Relations and Communications Intern to enhance the company's visibility in industry and business media outlets. The intern will collaborate closely with the Director of Marketing on media relations, press release preparation, thought leadership initiatives, and event planning. This role offers practical involvement: pitches will be directed to real journalists, drafts will undergo authentic approval processes, and research findings will influence Cambrian's strategic communications.

Qualifications

• Current student or recent graduate
• Degree focus in public relations, communications, marketing, media studies, or journalism

Key Responsibilities

• Regularly pitch story ideas to journalists and media outlets
• Track progress and follow-up activities related to media pitching
• Identify and monitor press opportunities suitable for outreach
• Draft and format press releases for important company milestones
• Submit drafts for marketing leadership review prior to distribution
• Maintain an updated calendar documenting company milestones
• Research industry events and publications relevant to thought leadership content
• Manage a calendar for content and speaking engagements
• Prepare submissions and applications for speaking opportunities
• Investigate upcoming industry conferences and events applicable to Cambrian
• Organize and update the company’s events calendar including deadlines and submission periods

Reporting Structure and Oversight

The intern will report directly to the Director of Marketing, participating in weekly one-on-one meetings to review tasks. All external communications including quotes, company claims, speaking proposals, press releases, and media pitches require prior approval from the Director.
