About the Role
As a Production Operator focused on Colour Matching at PPG in Singapore, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of coating products through color matching, formulation adjustments, and rigorous quality testing. You will contribute to maintaining and managing global color standards while supporting production activities and color management initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform color matching and carry out quality inspections of various coatings products to ensure standards compliance.
- Use spectrophotometer and color matching techniques to develop and adjust formulae, blend colors, spray samples, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Identify and resolve color shifts or related color issues effectively, scaling formulae to production quantities.
- Conduct production batches according to approved formulae and perform additional tests on activators and solvents as dictated by quality control procedures.
- Participate actively in the Color Management Action Group (CMAG) and take charge of managing and maintaining global color standards including BMS and Federal specifications.
- Serve as the primary color representative for ASC South East Asia, including managing the “on color” software and supporting color coordination across Asia/Pacific regions.
- Perform preventive maintenance duties, keep lab equipment calibration logs updated, and uphold 5S housekeeping standards in the laboratory setting.
Qualification and Skills
- Demonstrated understanding and adherence to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies.
- Strong knowledge of color development processes and color matching techniques with ability to interpret product formulae accurately.
- Precision and accuracy in blending formulas and operating measuring equipment.
- Working proficiency with color spectrophotometry and laboratory calibration routines.
- Effective communication skills, self-motivation and the ability to collaborate well with production supervisors regarding schedules.
