Production Manager

Role overview

This position is responsible for running the site efficiently, safely, and to a high standard of quality. The role combines production leadership, planning, coordination, and operational improvement to support customer expectations and pharmaceutical requirements while improving cost, delivery timelines, and product quality. It also includes serving as project manager during the early stage of plant construction and setup, as well as carrying out the industrial plan for the country/region.

Key responsibilities

• Steer the technology transfer process by managing plant build-out, equipment rollout, compliance requirements, team onboarding, and communication with internal and external stakeholders, while representing the business throughout project delivery and launch.
• Direct site production so resources are used effectively, safety and biosafety rules are met, supply chain activities stay aligned, costs remain controlled, capacity is planned properly, and operations continue to improve in line with demand and business goals.
• Oversee facility planning and execution, including design, construction, validation, upkeep, and industrial projects, with attention to reliability, compliance, environmental care, quality standards, and safe working conditions.
• Promote continuous improvement and Lean practices across manufacturing by simplifying workflows, removing waste, strengthening team capability, and raising performance in quality, safety, delivery, and employee engagement.
• Lead the site workforce by shaping the organization structure, managing budgets and resources, encouraging cross-functional cooperation, supporting training and engagement, and maintaining a productive work environment.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical, or chemical engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related discipline is required; a master’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a similar area is an advantage.
• Between 5 and 10 years of experience in biotechnology industrial production, either human or veterinary, with solid knowledge of GMP, quality, safety, occupational health, environmental rules, and biosafety requirements.
• At least 5 years of experience must be in a comparable managerial role.
• Background in project management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methods is needed.
• Experience in leading both teams and customer relationships is expected.
• Strong general business understanding, including the financial aspects of industrial operations, is important.
• The ability to work across disciplines is required.
• Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
• Preference will be given to Saudi nationals in line with local employment regulations.
• The role calls for strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, sound decision-making, strategic planning, interpersonal influence, stakeholder management, and the ability to lead diverse cross-functional teams.

Onsite full-time role based in Dammam, Eastern, Saudi Arabia.
