Role overview

Bartawi General Contracting is looking for a Product Owner to lead its enterprise platform initiative in Dubai. Although the title is Product Owner, the position carries the broader responsibility of a Product Manager: guiding the product from discovery and requirements through delivery, iteration, and eventual market launch.

This is a strategic, hands-on role at the intersection of business needs, technology execution, and market direction. The person in this position will work closely with department heads to uncover operational challenges, collaborate with the development team to turn those needs into buildable features, and partner with senior leadership to keep the roadmap aligned with business goals.

The platform currently covers five modules: Property Management, Waste Management, Contracting, Legal, and Finance & HR. It is being developed with the intention of reaching the GCC construction and real estate market. The Product Owner is responsible for the performance and direction of both the internal platform build and the product’s future commercial version.

Product vision and roadmap

  • Shape the product vision across all five modules so that every decision supports BGC’s core priorities: digitization, visibility, and data-driven strategy.
  • Build and maintain a phased, prioritised roadmap beginning with Property Management in Phase 1 from July to December 2026, then moving through Waste Management, Contracting, Legal, and Finance & HR through the end of 2027.
  • Make clear decisions on feature scope, order of delivery, and trade-offs, including when to remove lower-priority items to protect timelines and when to retain strategically important work.
  • Turn executive goals into a practical delivery plan that can be executed sprint by sprint by the engineering team.

Discovery and requirements

  • Run structured discovery across BGC departments using workshops, process reviews, and stakeholder interviews to identify pain points and convert them into functional requirements.
  • Work in partnership with the Tech Business Analyst to develop detailed specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Review completed features against actual business needs and approve only when the delivered solution matches the intended outcome.

Backlog and sprint management

  • Manage the product backlog so that user stories remain clear, prioritised, and ready for the development team without confusion.
  • Take part in sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives while helping keep delivery moving and addressing blockers between the business and technology teams.
  • Monitor progress across all five modules and update the Chief Strategy Officer on roadmap progress, risks, and any decisions that need escalation.

Stakeholder management

  • Serve as the main connection between senior leadership and the development team, translating strategy into product direction and reporting delivery realities back in a transparent way.
  • Set expectations across different departments, each of which has a place on the roadmap and its own priority level.
  • Build credibility with department heads by communicating what will be delivered, when it will happen, and why the sequence has been chosen.

Commercial and go-to-market

  • As the platform progresses through Phases 3 to 5, lead competitive benchmarking against GCC and global construction and real estate software to identify strengths, gaps, and differentiators.
  • Help define pricing structure, packaging tiers, and market positioning together with the Market Researcher and senior leadership.
  • Once external clients are added, manage the external product roadmap and balance internal priorities with client requests, deciding what should be built for all users and what should remain a custom solution.

Requirements

  • Bring 3 to 6 years of experience in product management, product ownership, or a similar role delivering digital products or business software; experience with SaaS, ERP, or enterprise tools is preferred.
  • Have hands-on experience owning a backlog, leading sprint cycles, and making prioritisation calls in a resource-limited environment.
  • Be skilled at gathering requirements from non-technical business users and converting them into documentation that a development team can implement.
  • Communicate confidently and manage stakeholders effectively, with the ability to present to C-level leaders and work directly with developers on the same day.
  • Be fluent in English; Arabic is an added advantage for this GCC-focused role.
