Procurement Officer

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Procurement Officer to join Saab Australia, based in Bundamba, Brisbane. This position involves delivering timely procurement support across all revenue streams of Saab's business, including involvement in the capture phase for new opportunities. You will be an integral member of the Supply Chain Team and the Business Service Group.

Key Duties

• Coordinate and execute procurement processes to satisfy both project-specific and broader company requirements.
• Effectively manage relationships with internal clients, external vendors, conflicting priorities, and ensure punctual delivery of goods, services, and related documentation.
• Implement vendor evaluation programs and cost-saving initiatives to enhance procurement process efficiency and effectiveness.
• Perform detailed technical, business, and process analyses to pinpoint improvements and advise the Supply Chain Team and stakeholders accordingly.
• Develop and maintain quality standards and reporting protocols for contracts related to projects.
• Negotiate and establish contracts focusing on maximizing profit, mitigating risks, and optimizing performance while maintaining high quality.
• Identify and promote opportunities that deliver value propositions aligned with project goals.
• Assist the Procurement Manager in advocating for procurement functions and achieving optimal outcomes within Saab.
• Collaborate with various business units to recognize procurement needs, influence purchasing decisions, and ensure compliance with procurement policies.
• Adhere to applicable legislation and company policies covering non-discrimination, safety, duty of care, and quality management systems.
• Domestic travel may be necessary as part of your responsibilities.

Work Arrangement and Location

This full-time role is based onsite in Bundamba with consideration for flexible arrangements such as hybrid work-from-home, 9-day fortnights, and office presence.

Candidate Profile

• Preferred tertiary qualifications in commerce or business fields.
• Proven experience in commercial environments handling contract drafting, administration, and managing contractual relationships.
• Comprehensive knowledge of modern and best-practice procurement methods.
• Experience with contractual needs of large multidisciplinary projects, especially within engineering, construction, or defense sectors.
• Familiarity with basic accounting principles is beneficial.
• Desirable knowledge of Australian Defence Industry procurement (ASDEFCON) and Australian/US government export control procedures.
• Proficiency with IFS systems and SharePoint.
• Possession or ability to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1 or NV2) and Australian citizenship are mandatory due to the nature of the role and export control regulations.
