Procurement Manager (China Sourcing)

Role Overview

This full-time procurement role in Nagpur is focused on end-to-end sourcing from China. The position covers supplier discovery, vendor negotiations, import coordination, documentation, logistics follow-up, and reporting. The ideal professional will bring deep experience in international procurement, supplier relationship management, cost control, and import-export compliance.

Core Responsibilities

• Identify products and suppliers in China using platforms such as Alibaba, Made-in-China, Global Sources, and direct manufacturer contacts.
• Assess, shortlist, and onboard suppliers by reviewing quality standards, pricing, reliability, and compliance fit.
• Handle RFQs, compare quotations, and support supplier selection decisions.
• Negotiate rates, payment terms, minimum order quantities, and delivery timelines with vendors.
• Develop and sustain productive relationships with Chinese manufacturers and trading partners.
• Track supplier performance and address concerns related to quality, delivery, or commercial terms.
• Keep supplier records and sourcing databases current and organized.
• Coordinate import movement with freight forwarders, CHAs, shipping lines, and logistics partners.
• Monitor shipments from dispatch at the supplier end through to final delivery.
• Prepare and manage import paperwork such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, COO, and other customs documents.
• Ensure adherence to import rules and internal procurement policies.
• Study market conditions and benchmark suppliers to support better sourcing decisions.
• Look for opportunities to reduce procurement costs and improve processes.
• Create procurement MIS reports, spend analyses, and KPI updates.
• Track sourcing performance, vendor metrics, and procurement cycle efficiency.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of procurement processes and cross-border sourcing.
• Hands-on experience in sourcing from China and negotiating with suppliers.
• Working knowledge of INCOTERMS such as FOB, CIF, EXW, and DDP.
• Familiarity with import-export documents and customs procedures.
• Good analytical ability and strong negotiation skills.
• Comfort with MS Excel and ERP platforms.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Graduate or postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Prior exposure to sourcing platforms like Alibaba, Made-in-China, and Global Sources is preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing, automotive, electronics, healthcare, consumer goods, or similar industries is preferred.
• Minimum experience expected: 5+ years.
