Planning Engineer

About The Role

We are looking for a driven Planning Engineer to join our Technical Support team in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia. The selected individual will manage the planning, scheduling, and control of plant maintenance activities, ensuring the plant operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position requires close collaboration with Maintenance and Operations departments to optimize both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, maximizing overall plant availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize, schedule, and track preventive and corrective maintenance tasks using SAP.
• Assess maintenance notifications and work orders for completeness, status updates, and timely closures.
• Create and update preventive maintenance task lists, plans, and schedules.
• Plan outages and shutdowns with MS Project to enhance maintenance efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Analyze equipment failure data and maintenance reports to suggest improvements to prevention strategies.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams and operations to carry out routine and outage maintenance work.
• Handle warranty defect notifications and coordinate claim processing.
• Compile maintenance performance reports monthly, quarterly, annually, and on-demand for management review.
• Maintain equipment master data, historical maintenance records, and configurations within SAP.
• Identify and implement process improvements in maintenance planning procedures.
• Optimize the use of maintenance resources to improve scheduling efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, legal mandates, contracts, and Integrated Management System (IMS) standards.
• Participate actively in Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality initiatives promoting a strong safety culture.
• Assist in hazard identification, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective/preventative action plans.
• Provide on-the-job training to maintenance personnel to foster skill development.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering is required.
• A Master’s degree is advantageous.

Experience

• At least 8 years of experience in maintenance planning and scheduling in power generation, utilities, or industrial plant environments.
• Proven expertise with SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) and maintenance scheduling tools is essential.

Skills & Competencies

• Deep understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.
• Hands-on operational experience with SAP PM.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office Suite, and Outlook.
• Strong analytical abilities combined with organizational and planning aptitude.
• Effective cross-departmental coordination and communication skills.
• Proficient English language skills for communication and reporting.
• Familiarity with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems.
• Robust problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks aligning with operational and business needs.

Working Environment

• This role is based at the plant and occasionally involves work near mechanical operations and outdoor settings.
• Potential exposure to elevated areas, noise, airborne particles, chemicals, electrical devices, and varying weather conditions, with strict adherence to safety protocols.
