Position Overview

The Pharmacy Compliance and Optimization Analyst is dedicated to enhancing the efficiency, compliance, and financial outcomes of pharmacy operations. This position reviews pharmacy workflows, internal processes, systems, and industry standards to propose and implement solutions that reduce costs, ensure adherence to regulations and contracts, improve accuracy, and unlock new revenue streams.

Working collaboratively with pharmacy leadership, supply chain teams, and other key departments, the analyst focuses on maximizing contract value, managing non-labor expenses, and leveraging data and technology to drive performance improvements across the medication supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate pharmacy and medication value chain processes to identify areas of improvement in systems, technology use, and operational practices.
  • Deliver analytical insights using advanced pharmacy and business analysis techniques to define and uphold best practices and standards.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy buyers, leaders, supply chain, and benchmarking teams to uncover cost-saving opportunities and optimize drug usage throughout care delivery.
  • Assist in managing product introductions, implementations, and ongoing optimization efforts via change management support.
  • Assess purchasing practices, standardization of products and distribution, inventory control, operational workflows, compliance with pharmacy regulations and charge codes, and overall financial performance.
  • Detect and address non-compliance issues in multiple pharmacy areas including the 340B Program, sterile and non-sterile compounding, medication distribution, internal guidelines, and contract adherence.
  • Advise on and facilitate corrective actions to maintain compliance standards.
  • Ensure vendor and external partner services meet agreed performance and quality standards.
  • Maintain accuracy of data by reconciling differences among systems such as Cogito extracts, EDI purchase orders, price catalogs, and split billing tools.
  • Engage in strategic discussions with vendors, business unit leaders, and stakeholders to support and execute contracts, compliance mandates, and new technology initiatives.
  • Produce clear, actionable, and reproducible reports identifying trends, risks, and improvement prospects.
  • Recommend improvements for internal controls, identify procedural gaps, and contribute to development or revision of workflows.
  • Conduct internal audits and perform attention-based analyses to resolve operational challenges.
  • Adhere to Orlando Health's attendance policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures consistently.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required. Alternatively, an Associate’s degree with two years of relevant experience or a High School Diploma with four years of experience in purchasing, data analysis, compliance, or healthcare also qualify.
  • No specific licenses or certifications are mandatory.
  • Prior experience with the 340B program is strongly preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in business analysis, ideally within healthcare, is necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PowerQuery, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, VBA coding, and complex formula use.
