About the Role
Gettysburg College, located in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, invites applications for a 10-month, part-time Wellness Coordinator role within the Counseling and Wellness Services department. This position demands a highly motivated, detail-conscious, and innovative professional with a background in preventative health education and experience working with young adult populations. The role focuses on fostering holistic student well-being through development, execution, and leadership of campus-wide health promotion and outreach programs. The college is a selective, residential liberal arts institution with an enrollment of approximately 2,200 undergraduates.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Executive Director of Counseling & Wellness and key stakeholders to create a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary student wellness strategy emphasizing personal and community health aspects such as substance use, suicide prevention, and financial, emotional, and physical wellness.
- Design, implement, and assess monthly evidence-based wellness outreach activities and initiatives reflecting Gettysburg College's dimensions of wellness.
- Coordinate wellness programs collaboratively with community partners.
- Develop strategic marketing campaigns and distribute wellness education materials via diverse channels including social media, web, email, and print mediums.
- Co-chair the College Life Wellness Advisory Committee.
- Co-direct the peer education program encompassing training, supervision, and ongoing support for peer educators and wellness outreach.
- Maintain a coordinated calendar governing campus-wide wellness activities and programs.
- Establish goals and measurable objectives for wellness promotion and risk reduction aligned with campus partners' guidance.
- Assist in creating, administering, and analyzing student wellness surveys and program evaluation tools.
- Support financial administration by managing records and processing invoices.
- Infuse inclusion and belonging into all wellness efforts to address diverse student needs.
- Execute additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree required; ideally in public health, health education, or social work. Candidates with degrees in other fields should demonstrate relevant coursework or professional education in related areas.
- Proven understanding of health topics pertinent to college students, such as substance use, mental health, and technology use patterns.
- Awareness of health needs and impacts on specific student groups including athletes, Greek life members, and underrepresented populations.
- Strong writing proficiency to develop clear, persuasive content.
- Experience with marketing and social media platforms.
- Leadership capabilities along with problem-solving skills.
- Ability to foster inclusive, equitable relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Effective independent work ability combined with excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational attention and detail orientation.
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
Additional Information
This position is hourly, compensated at $23.00 per hour, and is part-time (20-30 hours weekly) across a 10-month appointment period.
