Project Overview
The client is in search of a seasoned Senior Offshore Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and close-out of a HVAC Condenser Replacement Project on a live Offshore Substation (OSS) based in Essen, Germany, combining onsite and remote working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead overall project management by developing strategy, defining goals, milestones, and governance structures; managing schedules and cross-functional coordination; conducting meetings and reporting; mitigating risks; and ensuring compliance with standards and safety, quality, and budgetary targets.
- Plan and manage all offshore campaign activities including vessel logistics, equipment handling, personnel coordination, outage planning integrated with OSS operations, and monitoring offshore progress in line with health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Handle contract and commercial management by overseeing supplier performance, administering contracts, reviewing deliverables, managing claims and disputes, and supporting procurement processes.
- Manage budgeting and project controls through budget creation, cost tracking, forecasting, cost optimization, reporting financial performance, and maintaining project documentation and schedules.
- Serve as a client representative by monitoring contractor compliance, attending key reviews and tests, approving deliverables, facilitating decision-making, and coordinating internal approvals to safeguard client interests.
- Act as primary liaison for all stakeholders, including operations, engineering, HSEQ, procurement, marine logistics, contractors, suppliers, and leadership teams to ensure smooth communication, interface management, conflict resolution, and transparent reporting.
- Champion health, safety, quality, and environmental leadership by enforcing safety priorities, reviewing risk controls, ensuring compliance, leading investigations, and promoting continuous improvement.
- Lead project close-out activities involving completion verification, commissioning handover, documentation finalization, lessons learned workshops, and preparation of final reports and warranty support.
Expected Outcomes
The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering the condenser project safely, on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards, with minimal disruption to offshore operations while maintaining effective collaboration among all parties.
Mandatory Qualifications
- At least 10 years of offshore energy project management experience.
- Proven background in offshore wind project management, particularly on operational Offshore Substations.
- Experience leading offshore campaigns, contract and commercial management, and client representation.
- Expertise in project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and offshore logistics including crane and lifting operations.
- Strong leadership in health, safety, and environmental management.
- Fluency in both English and German.
- Valid offshore medical certificate and certified in GWO and GWO Enhanced First Aid.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HVAC systems and replacement projects on offshore assets.
- Familiarity with German offshore regulations.
- Prior work with offshore owner/operators.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or IPMA certifications.
Language Requirements
English is essential; German language skills are preferred.
