Network Engineer

Role Overview

Join Nera Telecommunications Ltd as a Network Engineer to deliver technical support and network solutions either remotely or onsite, following service level agreements. Your tasks include handling break/fix issues, performing emergency support, and managing software upgrades. This position entails 24/7 rotational on-call standby duties and requires diligent follow-up on trouble tickets, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for network issues remotely or onsite in line with SLA, including break/fix activities.
• Offer emergency support as required to maintain network stability.
• Manage and implement software updates and upgrades.
• Participate in 24/7 rotational on-call standby roles.
• Track and follow up on trouble tickets until a satisfactory resolution is achieved, coordinating with other teams and vendors when needed.
• Develop and implement processes and standard operating procedures such as Methods of Procedures (MOP).
• Create test cases and execute regression tests on hardware and software ahead of deployments or proof-of-concept trials.
• Carry out configuration changes to improve network performance and validate new services or features.
• Deliver technical professional services for projects, including preparing high and low level design documents (HLD/LLD), design validation tests, implementations, commissioning, acceptance testing, migration, and system documentation.
• Conduct periodic preventive maintenance on client networks to ensure optimal operation.
• Produce reports and documentation communicating findings and solutions as required.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies and pursue relevant educational opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills

• Degree or diploma in Computer Networks or Information Technology.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, capable of independent work and managing pressure.
• Flexible to work variable hours as needed.
• Adept at quickly acquiring knowledge of new or unfamiliar technologies through documentation and online research.
• Preferred certifications in Routing, Switching, Security, Wireless, or Data Center technologies are an advantage.
• Thorough knowledge and practical experience with IP network services and solutions tailored for Telecom, ISP, Mobile, and Broadband providers.
• Familiarity with LAN/WAN network technologies including VLANs, STP/RSTP, OSPF, ISIS, BGP4, MPLS-TE, MPLS-VPN, CGNAT, Segment Routing, QoS, Multicast, 802.1x, IPv6, OSI model, and TCP/IP protocols.
• Experience using network testing tools such as Spirent or Ixia.
• Additional beneficial knowledge or experience in areas such as
• Packet Optical Network solutions like IPoDWDM
• Data Center operations, Virtualization, Cloud Computing, Software Defined Networking (SDN), and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)
• Linux/Unix systems, including configuration, administration, shell scripting, and familiarity with programming languages like Python
• Network automation platforms like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
