About the Role

Mixon Digital seeks a Motion Graphics Designer specialized in broadcast design integrated with live real-time graphics systems. This production-focused position demands swift, accurate execution to design, animate, storyboard, and deliver graphics used during live professional sports broadcasts and in-arena events across multiple sports leagues in the US and globally. Candidates should combine creativity with technical expertise to produce engaging visuals under live broadcast pressure.

Responsibilities

• Create broadcast-quality motion graphics packages including lower thirds, scorebugs, full-screen stats, stingers, and sponsored features.
• Develop graphic concepts and storyboards from initial creative briefs through style frames, animation, and final delivery.
• Design motion graphics that effectively communicate real-time sports data from pre-game coverage to the final buzzer.
• Adapt motion assets for various screen formats such as broadcast displays, videoboards, LED ribbons, and other venue surfaces.
• Maintain brand consistency while innovating design elements across multiple client properties.
• Refine and implement designs developed by other creatives, ensuring client specifications and style guides are met.
• Deliver polished, production-ready graphic assets built to exact specifications.
• Construct and manage graphics templates within broadcast real-time graphics engines.
• Integrate live sports data into data-driven graphic systems for on-air use.
• Quickly resolve rendering or output issues during live presentations with composure.
• Coordinate closely with technical teams to guarantee flawless graphic performance during live events.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years’ experience in motion graphics within broadcast, sports production, or live event settings.
• Proficient hands-on experience with broadcast real-time graphics engines and industry-standard CG platforms.
• Advanced skills in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, with working knowledge of Premiere Pro.
• Thorough understanding of typography, color theory, motion principles, and visual composition essential for broadcast quality.
• Experience designing template-based graphic systems rather than standalone animations.
• Ability to tailor graphics for multiple display formats and aspect ratios including broadcast and various venue displays.
• Strong concept development and storyboard capabilities, transitioning ideas from brief to animation-ready style frames.
• Equipped to perform effectively under tight deadlines typical in live broadcast environments.
• A portfolio showcasing broadcast graphics expertise, especially in lower thirds, data-driven statistics, and live sports visuals.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with Cinema 4D, Blender for 3D elements, and Redshift renderer.
• Experience with integrating live data streams into broadcast graphics workflows.
• Background supporting live sports productions in arenas, studios, or remote setups.
• Knowledge of Unreal Engine or similar game engines.
• Utilization of AI-enhanced design and animation tools.
• Passion for professional sports and strong sports knowledge.
