Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and validate sophisticated CFD and Molecular Dynamics simulation processes for industrial applications.
- Translate fundamental molecular mechanisms and chemical interactions into practical and efficient modelling strategies across scales.
- Critically review academic research and modeling techniques to adapt proven methods into robust, manufacturable workflows.
- Simulate complex systems featuring heat and mass transfer, multiphase and reacting flows, particle transport, surface chemistry, and molecular transport phenomena.
- Utilize MD platforms like LAMMPS or GROMACS and integrate their insights with continuum-scale CFD models using tools such as STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, COMSOL, or OpenFOAM.
- Analyze simulation outputs to discern key physical and chemical mechanisms, quantify uncertainties, and provide clear engineering recommendations.
- Balance in-depth scientific modeling with practical industrial application to optimize solution complexity and reliability.
- Collaborate with experts in CFD, FEA, plasma, and system simulations to develop coupled multiphysics workflows and reusable methodologies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Physics, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or related fields.
- Comprehensive knowledge of transport phenomena, fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, and numerical modeling.
- Proven experience with Molecular Dynamics simulation software such as LAMMPS, GROMACS, NAMD, or OpenMM.
- Proficiency in industrial CFD software including STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, COMSOL Multiphysics, or OpenFOAM.
- Capability to scrutinize academic studies and implement effective modeling approaches for industrial use.
- Hands-on work with multiphase flows, reacting flows, diffusion, adsorption, surface chemistry, rarefied gases, and particle-laden flows.
- Programming or scripting experience in Python, MATLAB, C++, or related languages to automate workflows and enhance simulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic approach focused on industrial relevance.
- Strong communication skills in English; German language skills highly advantageous for customer relations and DACH region integration.
Preferred but Not Required
- Experience with surface chemistry, plasma interactions, chemical vapor deposition, etching, semiconductor processes, catalysis, membranes, porous media, or electrochemical systems.
- Knowledge of DSMC, LBM, rarefied gas dynamics, kinetic theory, multiscale or reduced-order modeling, and AI/ML applied to engineering workflows.
- Background in consultancy, industrial research and development, OEM collaboration, or customer-facing technical projects.
What We Provide
