Mobile Vehicle Technician

About the Role

This position is for a Mobile Vehicle Technician who will undertake servicing, maintenance, and repairs at customer-chosen locations such as their home or workplace. This role is part of a new, dedicated division within the UK's leading national breakdown company, catering to over 15 million members.

Work Schedule and Location

The job is based in Canterbury, with a 40-hour workweek spread over five days, Monday to Saturday, between 8am and 8pm. Technicians work one Saturday out of every four, with optional overtime available—up to two days a month—potentially earning an extra £3,000 to £5,000 annually.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform servicing and repairs on various vehicles, including electric vehicles, at customer-specified locations such as driveways or office car parks.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Identify and fix vehicle issues involving engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems using diagnostic tools and software.
• Engage effectively with customers to explain vehicle conditions and recommended repairs.
• Process payments via card transactions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving automotive technologies and repair methodologies.
• Document all completed work and parts used precisely.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Possession of at least a Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair; Level 3 qualifications (such as City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalents) are preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ practical experience post-qualification, whether in a workshop or mobile vehicle repair capacity.
• Ability to operate independently, make on-the-spot decisions, and adhere to established procedures.
• Customer-centric mindset.
• Full UK driving license with no more than six penalty points and no driving bans.
