About Synapticure

Synapticure is a nationwide specialty care clinic focused on people living with neurodegenerative conditions. Built by patients and caregivers with lived experience, the organization is changing how care is delivered for illnesses such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS across all 50 states.

Its virtual care approach makes specialized support more accessible for patients and caregivers nationwide. The care model emphasizes personalized guidance, education, and empowerment, while also helping patients connect with clinical trials and multidisciplinary experts including neurologists, psychologists, and care coordinators.

Synapticure is looking for committed, empathetic people who want to support patients and caregivers affected by neurodegenerative disease.

About the Role

In this Clinical Support Medical Assistant position, you will be an important part of delivering high-quality care to patients with complex neurological needs. This is a non-traditional medical assistant role that functions as a clinical partner to providers and cross-functional teams, helping ensure care is timely, coordinated, and compassionate.

The ideal person brings a solid clinical background, enjoys solving difficult problems, and wants to build specialized expertise in neurology. The role suits someone who is proactive, inquisitive, and collaborative, and who wants to grow in a supportive startup environment where teamwork directly improves patient outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Support providers as a dependable clinical partner by handling virtual rooming, collecting clinical history, and preparing documentation for neurology appointments.
  • Administer and score standardized clinical tools accurately, including the Montreal Cognitive Assessment.
  • Examine medical records, lab findings, and imaging reports to spot care gaps and inform clinical decisions in real time.
  • Assist patients in specialized clinic programs, including the GUIDE Program and the Anti Amyloid Therapy program.
  • Help prepare patients for specialty treatments by arranging required testing and securing supporting documents from infusion centers and imaging providers.
  • Coordinate records, diagnostic tests, and referrals to support seamless continuity of care.
  • Arrange referrals for respite care and home safety evaluations to help families at home.
  • Identify urgent or clinically important issues and route them to the appropriate provider or care team member without delay.
  • Work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, care coordinators, and navigators to deliver coordinated, patient-first care.
  • Communicate with patients and caregivers in a compassionate way while offering HIPAA-compliant support with insurance, billing, and clinical barriers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Medical Assistant certification is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical environment.
  • Strong organizational ability and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Comfort working with computer-based systems and video conferencing tools.
  • A dependable high-speed internet connection and a private remote workspace that is HIPAA compliant.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish ability is beneficial, though not mandatory.
  • Background in telemedicine or virtual care delivery is preferred.
  • Experience in a startup or a rapidly changing, high-growth organization is helpful.
  • Prior exposure to neurology patient care, or a strong interest in it, is preferred.
