Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

We seek a proficient Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design & Engineering team in Ichalkaranji within the manufacturing and machinery sector. The role involves the design, development, and enhancement of mechanical components, assemblies, and machinery ensuring they are functional, reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective. Candidates should be well-versed in mechanical design principles, manufacturing workflows, 3D CAD software, and engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Create designs and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and machinery.
• Produce 3D models, 2D and assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing documents.
• Utilize CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar software for design tasks.
• Choose appropriate materials and components including bearings, shafts, gears, fasteners, and motors.
• Conduct foundational design calculations involving strength, load, torque, power, dimensions, and tolerance specifications.
• Design for manufacturability, assembly, maintenance, and cost efficiency.
• Work collaboratively with production, procurement, quality assurance, and sales units.
• Identify and troubleshoot design challenges, proposing practical engineering solutions.
• Revise designs based on manufacturing feedback and customer requirements.
• Maintain bills of materials (BOM) and associated engineering documentation.
• Support prototype creation, testing phases, and problem resolution.
• Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards in all designs.
• Implement ongoing improvements to machines for better performance and cost reduction.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering design fundamentals.
• In-depth understanding of machine design and various manufacturing methods including machining, welding, casting, fabrication, and sheet metal work.
• Competence in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting with expertise in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software.
• Familiarity with GD&T standards, tolerances, fits, and mechanical drawings.
• Proficiency in selecting suitable materials and mechanical components.
• Capable of interpreting and preparing detailed technical drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
• Ability to function effectively both independently and in team-based environments.

Preferred Experience and Candidates

Candidates with 2 to 5 years’ experience in mechanical design, machine design, automation equipment, industrial machinery, or related manufacturing fields are preferred. Applicants with fresh degrees but solid CAD and practical mechanical design understanding will also be entertained. Preference is given to those with industry experience in automation, machine manufacturing, fabrication, and production equipment.

Education

Degree or diploma holders in Mechanical Engineering (B.E., B.Tech, Diploma, or equivalent).

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a monthly salary ranging from INR 12,000 to INR 30,500.
