Manager - R&D Optics

About the Role

The position of Lighting R&D Manager focuses on the end-to-end design, creation, and validation of innovative lighting products, covering aspects of lighting design, mechanical engineering, optics, and electronics. This role requires conducting simulations and testing mechanical, electronic, and optical components to enhance the predictive performance of lighting solutions. Strong expertise in lighting and optical design, LED engineering, mechanical design and assembly, along with programming capabilities in MATLAB or Python, is essential. Effective problem-solving, communication, and project management abilities are critical to driving next-generation lighting developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop fully integrated lighting products, including lighting, mechanical, electronics, and optical components.
• Create prototypes and perform experiments to verify design assumptions and concepts.
• Work collaboratively with various functional teams to integrate electronic components into lighting products.
• Document and maintain detailed technical records of lighting and optical designs.
• Develop, write, and debug modeling software using MATLAB or Python.
• Optimize design through lighting, mechanical design, assembly, LED selection, and simulation efforts.
• Conduct design reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Stay current with the latest trends and emerging technologies in embedded electronics and lighting solutions.
• Contribute to the creation of technical product roadmaps and strategies.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

• Expertise in R&D encompassing mechanical, optical, and electronic-efficient lighting systems.

Qualifications and Experience

• Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or closely related fields. A specialization in power electronics is highly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 12 to 15 years in application and product design and development within the lighting industry, with specific expertise in lighting applications.
• Skills: Process optimization, strong analytical capabilities, and proficiency in simulation, measurement, and testing techniques.

Location

The role is based at the plant site in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, India.
