Manager (Media Engagement)

About the Role

You will be responsible for planning and implementing public and digital communication initiatives to support the communication goals of the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). The key focus is to maintain and enhance public trust and confidence in national defence, National Service (NS), and the SAF.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop publicity strategies tailored for mainstream and social media channels.
• Collaborate with media outlets to produce feature articles and stories.
• Prepare replies to forum letters and address media inquiries.
• Create local and international media engagement plans.
• Manage public communications during incidents and unexpected events.

Challenges

• Coordinating with multiple stakeholders to grasp complex policy and operational matters.
• Devising effective communication approaches under tight time constraints.

Candidate Profile

• Academic background in Communication Studies, Political Science, Social Sciences, or Information and Communication Technology/Digital Media.
• Excellent proficiency in both written and spoken English.
• Knowledge of a second language such as Mandarin, Malay, or Tamil is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.
• Interest and awareness of Singapore's media, political, defence, and security sectors.
• Comprehensive understanding of the nation's media environment.
• Ability to work autonomously with meticulous attention to detail.
• Detail-focused and thorough approach to work.
• Willingness to work unusual hours and travel abroad on short notice.
