Logistics Technician

Overview

Located at the Canberra Data Center, this role as a Logistics Technician involves conducting cycle audits, managing incoming and outgoing shipments, coordinating security escorts for external vendors, and recording all delivery transactions. Working fully onsite will provide exposure to inventory management, warranty claims, and secure data-bearing device destruction, helping to advance your logistics career.

As part of Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), you contribute to the foundational infrastructure powering services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. This role supports a complex, sustainable global data center network supporting over a billion customers and millions of servers, emphasizing environmental optimization and collaborative values including respect, integrity, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute assigned logistics tasks and escalate problems during periods of high workload or exceptional situations.
• Coordinate with suppliers on warranty claims and handle failed hardware through the RMA process, ensuring compliance with service agreements.
• Utilize process expertise and initiative to accomplish duties with minimal supervision.
• Maintain awareness of task impacts while completing inventory and asset management tickets.
• Update and manage accurate information within inventory and configuration management systems.
• Conduct physical inventory tracking, staging, and resolve discrepancies through reconciliation and reporting.
• Perform secure destruction of data-bearing devices adhering to Microsoft policies and timelines.
• Alert management to stock shortages and escalate any operational issues.
• Adhere to data security and management protocols consistently.
• Demonstrate and promote Microsoft’s cultural values.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma with one year or more experience in IT-related warehouse, supply chain, inventory management, retail, or warehouse settings, or equivalent experience.
• Must pass Microsoft Cloud background checks and Australian government security screenings, including citizenship verification and possible enhanced vetting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in IT-related warehouse/logistics, including use of heavy-load equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks in a large corporate environment or similar relevant experience.
