Line Quality Technician

Position Overview

The Line Quality Technician role entails working within the semiconductor integrated circuit backend manufacturing and packaging environment, overseeing quality control activities throughout the production process.

This position emphasizes guaranteeing the quality of products manufactured via IC assembly, packaging, and singulation by conducting inspections, detecting defects, and facilitating corrective measures immediately.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out in-process and final quality inspections at different phases of semiconductor packaging production.
• Identify defects and deviations on the line by thoroughly inspecting against process and quality criteria.
• Adhere strictly to quality control protocols to pinpoint product and procedural non-conformities.
• Collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams to promptly resolve quality challenges.
• Use statistical and root cause analyses to detect defect patterns and identify areas for improvement.
• Oversee line processes to assure conformity with industry standards, client demands, and internal benchmarks.
• Maintain comprehensive quality documentation including inspection data and control logs.
• Provide real-time feedback and assist continuous enhancement efforts alongside production teams.
• Perform regular line audits to ensure compliance with quality protocols.
• Train and guide production staff on inspection standards and quality control practices.
• Drive cross-functional cooperation to embed quality measures into new product or packaging rollouts.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or closely related disciplines.
• Practical experience with quality control techniques such as SPC, FMEA, MSA, 8D, and 7QC tools.
• At least three years in semiconductor industry roles with hands-on exposure to:
  • Plasma cleaning
  • Molding
  • Laser marking
  • Saw/punch singulation
  • Plating and buffing
  • Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
  • Pick and place inspection
• Experience conducting laser marking first article inspection, measuring package dimensions, wettability assessments, and evaluating AOI defects.
• Solid understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality standards.
• Familiar with statistical software such as JMP or Minitab.
• Comprehensive knowledge of IC packaging and backend manufacturing processes.
