Role Overview

The Lifting Appointed Person will plan, organize, and supervise lifting operations to ensure activities are conducted safely and comply with all applicable standards and regulations. This full-time role is based in Abu Dhabi and involves a hybrid work mode, including tasks at client sites and office or remote work to prepare lifting plans, risk assessments, and necessary documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, and site supervisors to manage lifting activities efficiently.
• Select and verify appropriate lifting equipment, ensuring all certifications are current.
• Conduct inspections on-site before and during lifting operations.
• Review technical drawings and assess load characteristics to guarantee safe execution.
• Ensure proper communication and signaling procedures are followed during lifts.
• Provide expertise and guidance on safe lifting practices across teams.
• Assist in incident investigations when required.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in lifting operations and safety protocols.

Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive knowledge of lifting operations, including load calculations, equipment choice, rigging methods, safety standards, and compliance.
• Experience creating lifting plans, risk assessments, method statements, and related technical documentation.
• Familiarity with cranes, hoists, slings, shackles, and accessories including inspection and certification processes.
• Strong coordination and communication skills to collaborate effectively with operators, riggers, engineers, and site management.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, site layouts, and technical specifications.
• Proven problem-solving aptitude and decision-making skills under operational pressure.
• Formal certification or training as an Appointed Person or Lifting Supervisor aligned with industry standards.
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements in oil & gas or heavy industry contexts, committed to promoting safe work environments.
• Basic proficiency in computer applications for report writing, documentation, and record-keeping.
• Technical diploma or degree in engineering or a related discipline preferred; relevant industry experience also considered.
