Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of high-voltage (HV) substation systems including primary, cable, and earthing systems from initial concepts through to detailed engineering design stages.
• Provide technical leadership for cross-functional transmission and distribution projects across New Zealand and Australia.
• Prepare detailed design documentation such as reports, power system studies, project proposals, and budget estimates for complex engineering projects.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal team members to ensure successful project delivery.
• Mentor engineers and designers, supporting effective project planning, resource allocation, and program execution.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Possess relevant academic qualifications in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
• Bring over 12 years of experience designing transmission and distribution substations.
• Demonstrate strong familiarity with New Zealand and/or Australian utility standards, codes, and industry best practices.
• Have proven capability managing projects throughout all phases including planning, concept design, construction support, and commissioning.
• Exhibit excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide clear technical guidance and offer constructive challenges to assumptions.
