Job description

Position Overview

The Junior Merchandiser is instrumental in supporting product allocations and replenishment efforts, analyzing sales data, and assisting with seasonal merchandising projects. This role plays a crucial part in inventory oversight and ensuring merchandise availability aligns with store requirements, facilitating the optimal distribution of products according to timing and location needs. An ideal candidate excels in analytics, is meticulous, well-structured, and holds a strong passion for luxury retail merchandising.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with stock allocation and replenishment for stores across different styles, categories, and business priorities.
  • Oversee product movement from initial allocation through its lifecycle, including restocking, product consolidation, and transfers between stores or channels.
  • Implement weekly allocations for new season deliveries, existing carryover items, and replenishment demands.
  • Collaborate closely with Logistics and Retail leaders to coordinate shipment schedules, manage shipping capacity, prioritize in-store deliveries, and navigate peak season product flow.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and respond to store product demands and merchandising requirements related to events.
  • Support the execution of the seasonal buying strategies as outlined by the Versace buying team.
  • Track product performance throughout the season and propose actions to optimize revenue and align with business objectives.
  • Liaise with the Global Merchandising team at headquarters to communicate regional product needs and market opportunities.
  • Develop product training content and assist in conveying buying strategies to cross-functional teams and retail personnel.
  • Manage buying and allocation duties for licensed product categories such as fragrances, watches, and sunglasses.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business or fashion merchandising.
  • Three to four years’ experience in a fast-paced, sales-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical capabilities coupled with advanced Microsoft Excel and general computer proficiency.
  • Excellent understanding of the customer base and brand identity.
  • Team-focused with strong interpersonal skills conducive to networking and collaboration.
  • Availability to work in the New York City office three to four days weekly.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in luxury retail, merchandising, allocation, or buying is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with allocation systems or inventory management software.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate data insights into actionable plans.
  • Proactive approach combined with entrepreneurial mindset and curiosity.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to clearly articulate product strategies.

Additional Information

The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000 annually, which may vary based on skills, role demands, and experience level.
