You wish to join a prestigious Australian luxury brand that leads the architectural and design sector, embraces creative risk-taking, and stands by principles of minimalism and balance. This role offers a unique chance to build your portfolio through an environment valuing creativity and attention to detail. You have a strong creative mindset, enjoy working independently on open-ended design briefs, and appreciate the nuances that enhance design outcomes.

The Role

  • Assist in designing and developing innovative products from initial concepts to final production details.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accurate and organized design records.
  • Create prototypes using rapid prototyping techniques and manual construction methods.
  • Support administrative tasks related to design data management, tracking sample development, and updating various product documents including production guides.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to manufacture Australian-made product lines.
  • Work alongside sales and marketing to prepare product samples.
  • Maintain the R&D and production workshop organization, including prototype and tooling inventory.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a comparable field, completed or nearing completion.
  • Portfolio showcasing strong conceptual work, well-resolved designs, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD and rendering software such as SolidWorks and Keyshot.
  • Experience with 2D design tools for documentation and presentation including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Exposure to prototyping methods like rapid prototyping, model-making, or hand crafting through academics, internships, or personal projects.
  • Strong organizational capabilities to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Interest in minimalistic and intentional design as well as associated manufacturing processes.

Ideal Candidate Attributes

  • Creative, detail-focused with a strong passion for industrial and product design.
  • Wants to learn and improve based on feedback, thriving under mentorship from senior designers.
  • Comfortable with both digital work and workshop hands-on tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating across different departments including design, operations, sales, and marketing.
  • Reliable and organized, adept at managing competing demands without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Curious about material properties, production techniques, and construction methods.

What Drives You

  • A passion for the creative process, enjoying sketching, ideation, and turning concepts into tangible products.
  • Deriving satisfaction from perfecting details that elevate design quality.
  • Enjoyment in hands-on activities such as prototyping and model-making.
  • Thriving in a collaborative, dynamic environment where continuous learning and teamwork are valued.
  • Motivated by minimalistic and balanced design philosophies aiming to achieve more with less.
