IT Application Support Officer

About the Role

We are seeking an IT Application Support Officer for a permanent position located in Singapore. The role is with a trading division of a global energy company that operates across more than 50 countries with 8 trading platforms and employs around 1,400 people worldwide. The position primarily supports trading activities in the Asia-Pacific region and globally in the LNG business.

The successful candidate will improve the reliability of existing systems and support new system developments. This position requires close collaboration with teams in Europe, with occasional business travel there. Joining the Singapore IT team, the officer will contribute to team cohesion and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure overall system stability and continuity for all services and batch processes across Europe and Singapore.
• Administer vendor-based trading platforms, including managing access, order routing, limits, and broker connections.
• Provide application support covering pre-trade pricing, trade lifecycle, post-trade analytics such as Greeks, Value at Risk (VaR), and valuation.
• Monitor the global IT platform continuously, respond to alerts, analyze and resolve incidents, and document solutions.
• Coordinate incident resolution collaboratively with teams in Paris and other locations.
• Maintain and enhance monitoring tools and operational procedures related to monitoring alerts.
• Participate actively in the Follow-The-Sun model by sharing information and handing over tasks with European teams.
• Manage updates and releases of the IT platform and adjust monitoring tools and processes accordingly.
• Handle local user support requests including configuration and assistance, regularly gathering user feedback and communicating it to development teams.
• Develop the backlog of recurring issues, detailing descriptions, impacts, priorities, and recurrence.
• Engage in continuous self-learning of Information Systems and landscape.
• Manage the IT components of the Singapore Business Continuity Plan.
• Propose improvement ideas in collaboration with Business Analysts.

Qualifications and Skills

• University degree in IT Engineering or Mathematics.
• Relevant experience in an IT trading environment preferred.
• Basic understanding of trading and portfolio management processes; knowledge of derivatives and commodities is a plus.
• Strong behavioral and interpersonal skills with active listening and communication abilities.
• Excellent problem-solving skills including issue identification, analytical thinking, creativity, and innovation.
• Personal effectiveness demonstrated by facilitation skills, pragmatism, proactivity, stress resilience, initiative, and eagerness to learn.
• Technical expertise including a good understanding of trading environments, live monitoring, and application support for large IT systems.
• Proficient knowledge of Windows operating environments.
• Capability in SQL and scripting languages.
• Fluency in English is mandatory.

Additional Information

The role is located onsite in Singapore and involves frequent collaboration with European teams. Business trips to Europe could be expected occasionally. Ensuring team cohesion within the Singapore IT team is an important aspect of the position.
