Role Summary
The Inventory Controller holds a vital function in retail operations by ensuring the accurate management and availability of stock. This role requires strict compliance with procedures to reduce stock loss and enhance operational efficiency. Responsibilities include overseeing stock levels, resolving discrepancies, producing reports, and collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain smooth inventory processes. Success demands attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills in English and Arabic, and engagement with financial and asset management as well as business planning.
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor shipment tracking and manage product movement across warehouses and retail stores.
- Identify and escalate stock inconsistencies upon receipt by generating SRD reports and liaising with suppliers until system records are rectified.
- Keep detailed and current records of stock inflow and outflow in logs and inventory systems.
- Perform weekly physical stock reconciliations, investigate shortages, separate damaged items, and ensure their correct handling and system updates.
- Regularly verify stock counts against system data and coordinate corrective actions with relevant teams including brand management, MIS, asset management, and operations management.
- Prepare retail stores for marketing events by organizing stock count procedures to facilitate seamless scanning and counting.
- Document missing barcodes and inventory attributes such as quality, quantity, and type, and report findings to brand teams for assistance.
- Be on-site during store maintenance activities, often after closing hours, to manage stock-related concerns.
- Contribute to annual business plans and oversee monthly budget management tasks.
- Generate purchase orders, track invoice processing, and ensure service level agreements and invoicing accuracy with service providers.
- Administer management of non-merchandise assets stored within stockrooms that support operational activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum educational qualification: Diploma or high school certificate.
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience handling retail stock, preferably within Saudi Arabia.
- Expertise in inventory management, including precise stock tracking and discrepancy reporting.
- Proven ability to manage large shipment volumes and conduct accurate stock counts.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in both English and Arabic for coordination with suppliers and delivery personnel.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills tailored to retail stock control.
