Role Responsibilities

• Perform instrumentation and control (I&C) engineering scope execution across capital and expense projects involving engineering analysis and consultancy.
• Review and validate I&C construction packages ensuring compliance with Chevron standards, industry codes, and site-specific criteria.
• Handle multiple project deliverables concurrently, maintaining prioritization between projects and ongoing operational support.
• Apply Chevron and industry engineering standards along with Safety in Design principles to I&C responsibilities.
• Review and approve I&C engineering deliverables from partners, verifying adherence to Chevron standards, downstream, midstream and chemical (DM&C) requirements, and relevant codes. These include control philosophies, cause & effect diagrams, P&IDs and markups, area classification drawings, instrument indexes and datasheets, process automation architecture, and network diagrams.
• Provide technical resolutions promptly for requests for information (RFIs), technical queries (TQs), and field changes linked to I&C scope, aligning with approved designs and standards.
• Support design and technical analysis of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), PLC controls, analyzer systems, field instrumentation (HART), electrical power systems, and other process technology equipment.
• Deliver remote I&C support to operations, maintenance, and technical teams including troubleshooting, repair scoping, modification, and improvement efforts.
• Develop and implement engineering solutions tailored for operational facilities.
• Contribute to maintenance, turnaround executions, and project activities supporting solution implementations.
• Assist management of change (MOC) processes for I&C design changes and field modifications ensuring safety and operational integrity.
• Participate actively in process safety and risk evaluations such as HAZOP and hazard analyses.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in operations, maintenance, technical, and projects to ensure designs are safe, operationally feasible, and maintainable.
• Offer guidance on technical inquiries and recommend solutions.
• Support enhancements to I&C engineering tools, standards, processes, and workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech.) from an accredited institution.
• At least 10 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering, including brownfield environments.
• Proven experience in providing I&C engineering support to operational facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10 to 15 years of experience in oil and gas sectors such as refining, LNG, or petrochemical industries.
• Experience managing brownfield projects for onshore and complex process facilities.
• Familiarity with Chevron and DM&C engineering standards, codes, and deviation/waiver procedures.
• Ability to scope, review, and verify I&C engineering deliverables throughout all project phases.
• Knowledge of safety lifecycle activities (AOA/COA, FSA, audits).
• Strong expertise with analyzers, PLCs, DCS, and SIS control systems, including platforms like Allen Bradley, Honeywell, and Yokogawa.
• Experience in specification, design review, and implementation support for process instrumentation and control valves.
• Skilled in construction, turnaround, and startup support with responsiveness to RFIs and TQs.

Working Hours and Conditions

The role supports Chevron's global operations; hence working hours align with global business demands. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with shifts either from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 1:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
