Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled GIS Engineer to support a client in the government sector in Doha, Qatar. The role focuses on contributing to asset management and infrastructure projects through effective development, maintenance, and analysis of Geographic Information System (GIS) data, applications, and spatial information. The position requires onsite full-time presence.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage and upkeep GIS databases, spatial datasets, and online GIS platforms to fulfill operational and project needs.
• Design and implement GIS tools, spatial databases, and SQL solutions to enhance data handling, reporting capabilities, and business workflows.
• Gather, verify, and analyze spatial data from diverse origins to maintain data quality and reliability.
• Create maps, spatial reports, and analytical deliverables that support asset management and operational decisions.
• Assess and interpret as-built drawings, aerial images, maps, and technical documents to identify and resolve inconsistencies in data.
• Perform fieldwork including site visits and inspections to confirm spatial data accuracy and assist in data collection.
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide GIS expertise and spatial insights aligned with organizational goals.
• Prepare technical documentation, maintain GIS records, and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) guidelines and workplace policies.

Candidate Qualifications

• At least 10 years of relevant experience in GIS or geospatial engineering roles.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in GIS database administration, spatial data analysis, and development of SQL-based solutions.
• Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS platforms (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server) and web GIS applications.
• Experience with additional programming languages such as Microsoft C#.NET, Python, or VBA is a plus.
• Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings, asset data management, and compiling spatial analyses and reports.
• Professional accreditation from recognized GIS institutes or relevant bodies is advantageous.
• Qualifications or certifications from North America, Western Europe, or Australia are preferred.
• Possession of a valid Qatar driving license is considered beneficial.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft Excel.
