Role Overview

The Founding Technical Recruiter will spearhead the recruitment for Engineering, Product, and Design teams as Garage accelerates its growth. Working closely with the CTO/co-founder and engineering leaders, this hands-on role demands end-to-end ownership of sourcing and hiring technical talent who can develop complex, critical marketplace solutions that delight customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the entire recruitment lifecycle for engineering, product, design, and data science roles, collaborating closely with founders to secure outstanding technical professionals.
• Develop and implement strategic sourcing methods leveraging outbound efforts, referrals, and engagement within technical communities to rapidly fill priority vacancies.
• Conduct structured, thorough recruiting processes from candidate screening to offer stage, ensuring exceptional experiences for applicants.
• Monitor pipeline status using Ashby ATS and establish scalable recruiting workflows and documentation.
• Contribute to expanding the recruiting team as the organization grows.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience managing full-cycle hiring for technical positions including software engineering, product, design, and data science.
• Established network and deep knowledge of the New York City startup talent scene.
• Strong ability to close candidates with a keen sense of cultural fit.
• Passionate about building fast-growing, high-impact teams in dynamic settings.
• Familiarity with recruitment and AI tools such as Ashby, Juicebox, Metaview, Gem, Clay, ChatGPT, and Claude.
• Excellent organizational skills using ATS platforms like Ashby.
