Cohere is a premier enterprise AI company prioritizing security. We develop state-of-the-art foundational AI models and comprehensive solutions aiming to address actual business challenges. Our team is a collective of researchers, engineers, designers, and specialists passionate about enhancing AI capabilities to maximize value for our clients. Headquartered in Toronto and San Francisco, we operate globally, including offices in London, New York City, Montreal, Seoul, Germany, and Paris.

About North

North is Cohere's innovative AI workspace platform, transforming how enterprises leverage AI. It ensures a secure, customizable environment enabling deployment of AI while safeguarding sensitive data. Seamlessly integrating with existing enterprise workflows, North connects AI agents with workplace tools and applications to foster trusted AI use.

Role Overview

This position offers a chance to influence how enterprises apply AI practically. As a liaison between the North platform and client engineering teams, you will address intricate challenges and facilitate secure AI integration within critical industries like finance, healthcare, and telecommunications. The role involves designing, constructing, and deploying agentic workflows powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), ranging from prototypes to production-level AI agents that deliver tangible business advantages. Maintaining enterprise-grade standards for reliability, observability, safety, and auditability is crucial from the outset. The role expects 20–40% travel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with enterprise clients to convert complex and ambiguous business issues into clearly defined agentic workflows with measurable success metrics.
  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of LLM-driven agents capable of reasoning, planning, and executing tasks using tools, APIs, and sensitive data with high reliability and performance.
  • Develop and release features for North, managing the product lifecycle from conceptualization to live production.
  • Take comprehensive ownership of use cases, adapting flexibly to diverse technical requirements, including frontend development, to deliver optimal solutions.
  • Contribute to common frameworks and design patterns that support consistent, high-quality project execution across teams.
  • Clarify ambiguous scenarios, build consensus, and elevate engineering standards within the organization.
  • Travel up to 20–40% for onsite engagements with customers and partners.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proficient in building and deploying production-grade Python software with clean, scalable, testable, and observable codebases.
  • Experience in developing and launching high-performing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and agentic applications that plan and execute complex multi-step tasks using patterns such as ReAct or Plan-and-Execute.
  • Deep understanding of the LLM ecosystem, including frontier models, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
  • Skilled in designing rigorous evaluation frameworks to measure agent accuracy, safety, and latency beyond trial-and-error methods.
  • Experienced in engaging directly with customers, leading technical conversations with enterprise stakeholders, and translating nebulous business requirements into concrete technical specifications.
  • Comfortable owning entire use cases from conception through delivery.
  • Adept at thriving in fast-moving, uncertain environments and managing shifting priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in establishing architectural standards for AI and agentic systems within distributed teams.
  • Versatility to tackle unfamiliar technical domains, including frontend development when necessary.
  • Exposure to regulated or sensitive industries such as finance, healthcare, or telecommunications.
  • Knowledge of enterprise security, compliance, and audit requirements related to AI systems.

Location and Travel

Candidates currently based in the Middle East or those willing to travel or relocate are encouraged to apply.

Employee Benefits

  • Weekly lunch allowance equivalent to $75/£75 or local currency.
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage with additional mental health budget.
  • Retirement benefits such as RRSP matching, 401K, or Pension schemes.
  • Parental leave top-up at 100% for up to six months for any parent.
  • Annual enrichment budgets covering arts, culture, fitness, wellness, quality time activities, and workspace improvements.
  • Stipend for education and learning opportunities including conferences, courses, and coaching.
  • Generous paid vacation amounting to six weeks (30 working days).
  • Travel budget for visits to other offices and an annual company-wide offsite event.

Work Environment

  • Cohere supports remote work and maintains multiple global offices.
  • Onsite employees enjoy daily lunch programs, snacks, and community events.
  • Remote team members receive co-working benefits to foster collaboration.
  • All employees get a $500 stipend for home office setup.

We value an inclusive workplace and encourage applications from all backgrounds. Accommodations during recruitment are available upon request.
