Financial Planning Analyst

About the Role

This opportunity offers a foundational position within a newly established startup funded by Deck2 Capital, an entity specializing in acquiring profitable digital insurance companies. The operating division, Cove, manages and expands these acquisitions. As a Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) lead, you will be employed by Cove and collaborate closely with them to exceed expectations in this already profitable stealth venture based in Sydney.

Role Responsibilities

You will take ownership of key financial metrics for the newly acquired, rapidly expanding insurance business, focusing on essential models such as unit economics, cohort behavior, customer acquisition cost (CAC) versus lifetime value (LTV), loss ratios, and scenario analyses. Your insights will be critical in directing marketing expenditure, pricing strategies, and growth pace. Collaboration with growth, pricing teams, and the executive leadership is integral.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in FP&A or commercial finance within dynamic, growth-oriented consumer, fintech, or insurance sectors. Expertise in financial modeling with the acumen to identify influential numbers that affect strategic decisions is expected. Familiarity with unit economics relating to recurring-revenue businesses, including CAC, LTV, customer retention, and cohort analysis, is essential.

Preferred Technical Skills

As an AI-integrated enterprise, proficiency with agentic AI methods that utilize AI agents for multi-step analytical planning and execution will distinguish you. You should be comfortable developing tools that extract accurate information from proprietary data sets (Retrieval-Augmented Generation - RAG), creating production-quality outputs via prompt engineering, and managing model output through chaining, routing, and rigorous evaluation (Large Language Model orchestration). Ability to construct functional models and tools independently, even without formal coding training, is advantageous.
