About the Role

A prominent and well-established company in the maritime sector is actively seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to become a vital part of its finance leadership team in Dubai. This position involves managing the company's financial operations with a focus on delivering accurate financial reports, upholding rigorous governance and compliance, and offering strategic financial guidance to top management. The role is pivotal in driving financial performance, strengthening internal controls, and fostering organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the drafting of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements along with management reports.
• Ensure adherence to IFRS standards, statutory guidelines, and internal financial policies.
• Oversee the annual budgeting and forecasting activities in partnership with business stakeholders.
• Conduct financial analysis and variance reporting to offer strategic advice to management.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial governance frameworks.
• Manage external audits, liaising with auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Supervise treasury functions including cash flow management, liquidity planning, and banking relationships.
• Ensure compliance with both local and international tax laws.
• Handle corporate tax, VAT, transfer pricing matters, and plan tax strategies.
• Provide senior management with financial insights to boost business performance and profitability.
• Spot opportunities for process enhancement, cost savings, and operational efficiencies.

Candidate Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Possess a professional accounting qualification like ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CA is strongly preferred.
• Have 8-10 years of advancing finance experience, including minimum 3 years in a financial controller or related leadership role.
• Experience within Maritime, Shipping, Logistics, Commodities Trading, or Marine sectors is highly advantageous.
• Solid understanding of IFRS, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury management, taxation, and internal controls.
• Proven track record handling external audits and compliance.
• Excellent analytical skills paired with a commercial mindset and effective problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Experience in a fast-moving international business environment.
