Overview

This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in safely managing plant equipment and industrial processes while strictly adhering to safety protocols and operational standards. The trainee will learn about plant hazards, safety guidelines, and the work permit system, all while delivering excellence in safety and operations.

Key Duties

  • Monitor and control various field equipment using established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs), LLF checklists, and On-Demand Reading (ODR) instruments.
  • Perform condition monitoring using portable devices and carry out minor troubleshooting and maintenance activities as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with shift superintendents and panel executives to ensure smooth operational flow.
  • Collect samples from the plant field for laboratory analysis and ensure proper delivery.
  • Maintain timely, accurate records and logs concerning equipment and area operations.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance safety culture by suggesting improvements and handling hazardous materials and plant waste as per protocols.
  • Work alongside contract workers to promote safe working practices and actively uphold safe operating procedures.
  • Serve as a first responder during emergencies, mitigating risks swiftly to protect personnel and assets.
  • Liaise with safety engineers and other stakeholders to report, investigate, and address safety issues promptly.
  • Facilitate cooperation with internal field personnel and contractors to coordinate plant activities while maintaining safety compliance.
  • Manage permits by verifying hazard-free conditions and coordinating with safety in-charge to ensure proper documentation and compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying enhancements in operational and safety procedures, staying current with best practices, and applying management methodologies like TQM, EFQM, QCC, and 5S.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in relevant engineering discipline or BSc/MSc Chemistry degree is required.
  • Experience ranging from fresh candidates up to 2 years in related fields is acceptable.

  • Familiarity with plant field locations and equipment.
  • Competence using On-Demand Reading (ODR) instruments.
