About the Role
At Richesin Engineering, LLC, fiber splicing is regarded as a precise and skilled craft. Our operations take place in some of the most challenging and remote locations, including rural Oregon broadband expansions, Hawaiian utility corridors, and remote Alaskan communities. We seek certified professionals who take pride in their craft and understand the significance of their expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precise fusion splicing on both single-mode and multimode optical fibers.
- Conduct Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) tests and analyze results to confirm splice quality.
- Carry out aerial and underground fiber splicing under various field conditions.
- Accurately document all splice records, loss measurements, and test outcomes.
- Detect and repair fiber faults or damages efficiently.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to schedule splicing tasks.
- Maintain and manage splicing equipment such as fusion splicers and OTDR machines.
- Adhere strictly to safety guidelines for aerial, underground, and confined space tasks.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum two years of experience with certified fusion splicing.
- Proficiency in OTDR testing is mandatory.
- Experience working with both aerial and underground fiber optic installations.
- Understanding of fiber color coding, buffer tube identification, and documentation standards.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Availability and willingness to travel regularly for project sites across Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii.
- Physical capability to perform work in outdoor environments, confined spaces, and elevated positions.
- Relevant fiber optic certifications such as FOA, BICSI, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
